Marybelle Kimball, 89, a St. Louis artist and former Girl Scout leader, died Monday, May 6, 1991, at Mari DeVilla Retirement Home in Manchester.
A native of Kirkwood, she moved to Cape Girardeau as a young woman where she was a Girl Scout troop leader and director of the first Girl Scout day camp.
In 1984 members of her former troop held a reunion here to mark her 50th anniversary in Girl Scouting. At that time, a council-fire area and unit fire pits were constructed at the day camp, and a plaque was dedicated in her honor.
She was a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute. She moved to Clayton in 1942, where she continued to work out of her home as a freelance illustrator of children's books.
Survivors include two nephews, John Lilly of Creve Coeur and Douglas Lilly of Ladue.
A private graveside service was held at Oak Hill Cemetery.
