JONESBORO, Ill. -- Maryan Tibbets Connolly of Jonesboro died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was 76.
She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Jonesboro, daughter of John and Cecil Musselman Tibbets. On Oct. 7, 1944, she married Thomas Connolly in Milne Bay, New Guinea. She was a registered nurse and served in that capacity during World War II. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro.
Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie Connolly of St. Louis; two sons, Thomas Connolly of Fairport, N.Y., and John Connolly of St. Louis; a brother, John Tibbets of Canoga Park, Calif.; four sisters, Thelma Roberts of Pekin, Velma Becker of Downers Grove, Grace Reese of Escondio, Calif., and Naomi Manus of Centralia; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hilenman & Parr Funeral Services. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Chris Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the VFW Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 of Anna.
