Mary Ruth Bok Zacharias, 82, of Marysville, Ohio, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, Scott City, and the Sherwood, Ohio, area, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at The Gables at Green Pastures in Marysville.

A graduate of Robinwood School of Nursing, she served as a registered nurse many years in obstetrics and geriatrics. A loving mother and devoted wife, she cherished her role as the spouse of a Lutheran minister and was active many years in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and other church organizations.

A member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marysville, she was confirmed April 2, 1942, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherwood. She was an advocate of holistic health and healing. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, especially euchre, and traveling. Above all, she loved reunions and special times with her family.

She was born July 3, 1930, in Sherwood, to Enos and Eliese Huth Bok. She was preceded by her husbands, Robert D. Mechler (1953) and the Rev. Edward H.P. Zacharias (2007); a daughter, Ruth Ann Crutcher (2011); and a brother, Arnold Bok.

Survivors include five children, Richard Mechler of St. Louis, John Zacharias of Marysville, the Rev. Eric (Mary) Zacharias of Cologne, Minn., Alan (Rhonda) Zacharias of Winfield, Ill., Sharon (Scott) Pender of Marysville; 14 grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca and Robert Crutcher, Sarah (Mike) Connolly, Andrew, Hannah, Evan, Luke, Lori, Holden and Lily Zacharias and Nicholas, Chelsea and Caleb (Jessica) Pender; five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Matthew, Jordan, Jeremiah and Kylee; two brothers, the Rev. Wilbert (Martha) Bok of Columbia City, Ind., Delbert Bok of Sherwood; a sister, Elma Kane of Bay Village, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marysville.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Rev. John W. Fair officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville is in charge of arrangements.
