Mary Lou Wendel, 77, of Whitewater passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Heartland Care and Rehab in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Oscar and Ella Neumeyer Kasten. She and Roy W. Wendel were married Sept. 11, 1960.
Mary Lou was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church of Gordonville, where she was confirmed, and was also the first church secretary. She was a dental assistant many years for Dr. V.L. Kies in Jackson. She was active with the 4-H clubs and helped charter the Millersville Fire District Auxiliary.
Loving survivors include her husband of 50 years; a son, Larry (Pam) Wendel of Elizabeth, Colo.; a daughter, Janet (Dirk) Roberts of Arnold, Mo.; four grandchildren, Chris and Kelsey Wendel, Samantha and Justin Roberts; three brothers, Milton Kasten of Jackson, Harold Lee Kasten of Tilsit and Donald Kasten of Columbus, Ohio; and a sister, Joyce King of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Mary Kasten.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until service time at Zion UMC in Gordonville.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Joel Kidwell and Dr. Don Kuehle officiating. Interment will be in Zion UMC Cemetery.
