Mary Elizabeth Spero, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, at Heartland Care and Rehab Center.
She was born July 30, 1910, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of George and Minnie Volz Schrock. She first married Northern Wring June 30, 1930, in Cape Girardeau. He died in March 1968. She later married Melvin Spero Aug. 26, 1972, in Griffith, Ind. He died in March 1989.
Spero was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. She had been a cashier at Ribordy Drug Store in Highland, Ind., returning to Cape Girardeau in 1974. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Ladies Sodality, and Cape Girardeau Senior Center.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Seyer of Cape Girardeau, Hattie Christy of Princeton, Ind.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, brother and sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
