Mary Anna Savoy, 78, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at her home.
She was born March 24, 1945, in Illinois, daughter of the Rev. Fred and Anna Young Heckathorn. She and George Savoy Jr. were married Dec. 19, 1987. He preceded her in death April 18, 2004.
Mary graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree. She was of the Lutheran faith.
She was a selfless and kind-hearted mother and grandmother. She was the rock of her family and was deeply loved by her family. Mary loved her cats and considered them to be part of her family.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Marjorie (Ashley) Eddleman of Marble Hill; sister, Esther (Myron) Bohnert of Jackson; two grandchildren, Trenton Eddleman and Keira Savoy, both of Marble Hill; and nephew, Aaron Bohnert of Phoenix.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded by a brother, Fred Heckathorn Jr., and a sister, Ruth Heckathorn.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 22, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral will be at noon Monday, Jan. 22, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darrell Back officiating. Burial will follow in the Lixville Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Friends of the Cape Girardeau Library Foundation.
