Mary E. Reimann, 97, of McClure, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Haleyville, Alabama, to Monroe and Goldie Butler Wiley. She and Walter Alfred Reimann were married May 4, 1939, in Malden, Missouri.
She had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau more than 75 years. Mary had been a very active member of the McClure community.
She enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers. She also liked to quilt, crochet and paint. She helped with prayer shawls at church, and she made her children's clothes.
In her younger years she helped with the family farm and would also prepare lunch for the hired farm hands. She ran a country store in Gale, Illinois, more than 15 years. Railroaders would stop at the store to partake of the lunches she prepared.
Survivors include two sons, Don (Connie) Reimann of Sikeston, Missouri, and Bruce (Beth) Reimann of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Hester Whitfield of California; a daughter-in-law, Laura V. Reimann of Thebes, Illinois; six grandchildren, Blyn (Amy) Reimann, Tyler (Kim) Reimann, Hope Reimann, Lindsey Reimann, Hailey Reimann and Morgan Chaudoir; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Gary Reimann; and two brothers, Coen and Owen Wiley.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Daniel Maske officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
