Mary Preusser

Mary Lou Gilliland Preusser, 68, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 9, 1944, in Champaign, Ill., to Russell Otto and Doris Cash Gilliland. She and Mark W. Preusser were married June 16, 1990, at Shawneetown.

Mary Lou moved to Cape Girardeau from Champaign in 1990. She was a nurse's aide at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

Survivors include her husband, Mark W. Preusser of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Pam Combs Messerli of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Jim Gilliland of Bement, Ill., Bill (Kay) Gilliland of Savoy, Ill., and Dave (Tammie) Gilliland of Champaign; a sister, Jo Ann (Dean) Voorhees of Champaign; and two grandchildren, Sydney and Paige Messerli.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Elizabeth Gilliland.

Friends may call from noon until time of service Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Prairie View Cemetery in Champaign.
