Mary Frances Pickens, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Nov. 27, 1921, at Commerce, Mo., daughter of Lawrence and Effie Knight Pobst. She and Norman S. Pickens were married July 28, 1945, in Columbia, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 5, 1976...

Mary Frances Pickens, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Nov. 27, 1921, at Commerce, Mo., daughter of Lawrence and Effie Knight Pobst. She and Norman S. Pickens were married July 28, 1945, in Columbia, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 5, 1976.

Mrs. Pickens lived most of her married life in Caru-thersville, Mo., where she and her husband owned and operated Pic's Motel.

She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Terrie Lynn (Jerry W.) Welch of Cape Girardeau, Norma Pauletta Reed of St. Louis; two sisters, Pauline Kraft and Florence Edmonds of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; Jennifer L. (Steve) McBride of Cape Girardeau, Jeremy W. Welch of New York, N.Y., Kevin Michael (Erin) Henry of Portland, Ore., Brian L. (Kelly) Henry of Seattle, Wash., Thomas K. (Holly) Henry of Medford, Ore.; nine great-grandchildren, Kelsi Mae McBride, Cody Lane McBride, Caden Lee McBride, Katelyn Henry, Megan Henry, Alexa Henry, Bailey Henry, Nicklaus Henry, Grace Henry; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and two brothers.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Pemiscot Memorial Cemetery at Caruthersville.
