Mary Elizabeth Peerson, 86, of Savannah, Ga., died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Savannah Square Health Care. She was born June 26, 1915, in Sikeston, Mo., daughter of Earl M. and Ava Harris Kinnison. She and Edward L. Peerson were married in 1931 in Florence, Ala. He died in 1971...

Mary Elizabeth Peerson, 86, of Savannah, Ga., died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Savannah Square Health Care.

She was born June 26, 1915, in Sikeston, Mo., daughter of Earl M. and Ava Harris Kinnison. She and Edward L. Peerson were married in 1931 in Florence, Ala. He died in 1971.

Peerson grew up in Cape Girardeau and lived here many years and was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

She taught music and English at Potosi and St. Louis in Missouri and in Little Rock, Ark. She set up the music department at Manala International School in West Pakistan.

Peerson moved to Savannah in 1985 from Denver, Colo. She was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church, Newcomers Club, National Music Educators Association, and Savannah Symphony Guild.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Peerson of Savannah.

There is no visitation.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, Mo. The Rev. Clayton Smith will officiate.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
