MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Mary Ann Mitchell, 77, of Mound City died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 3, 1932, in Perks, Ill., daughter of Walter and Aileen Chesney Foster. She married Robert Mitchell, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Dover of Olmsted, Ill., Ruby Jones of Christopher, Ill., Ruby Jean Everett of Ullin, Ill.; six sons, Robert Mitchell Jr. of Ullin, Walter Mitchell of Cairo, Ill., John Mitchell of Carbondale, Ill., James Mitchell of Mounds, Ill., Leroy Mitchell of Olmsted and Leon Mitchell of Grand Chain, Ill.

Also five sisters, Mary Taylor of Olmsted, Dorothy Sommers of Chaffee, Mo., Anna Crawford of Barlow, Ky., Shirley Woodworth of Mound City, Holly Beegle of Dongola, Ill.; a brother, John Foster of Anna, Ill.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a sister and a brother.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time today at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City.

The graveside service will be at noon today at Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, with the Rev. Bill Dunning officiating.
