Mary L. Carver, 77, of rural Oran, formerly of Zalma, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 1997, at her home.
She was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Kennett, daughter of Henry William and Levadie Mae Hoxworth Abernathy. She married Julius C. Carver on Aug. 31, 1946, in Piggott, Ark. He died Aug. 2, 1994.
Carver was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Marble Hill and the Eastern Star chapter in Zalma.
Survivors include two brothers, Leroy and Bob Abernathy, both of Morley; five sisters, Maudie Denton of Sikeston, Fern Thomas of Oran, Tinia Clark of Dexter, Violet Farmer of Sikeston and Pretshie Ellsworth of Pensacola, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Richard Whitman officiating. Burial will follow in New Morley Cemetery in Morley.
