Mary Katherine "Kay" Kirk, 65, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at her home.

She was born March 12, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Cyrus B. and Harriet E. Shy Porter. She and Roger H. Kirk were married Sept. 4, 1971, in New Madrid, Missouri.

Kay was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson for over 40 years and a member of the St. Ann's Sodality. She taught school at St. Denis Catholic School in Benton, Missouri, Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Jackson, St. Maurus Catholic School in Biehle, Missouri, St. Joseph Catholic School in Apple Creek, Missouri, and a substitute teacher at Jackson School District, retiring in May from Scott County Central School.

Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She touched the lives of everyone she came across in a very special way. The warmth of her heart and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband of over 45 years, Roger; three sons, Jason (Ayako) Kirk of O'Fallon, Illinois, Steven (Mendy) Kirk of Jackson and John Kirk of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Alyssa (Drake) Seabaugh of Jackson; and five grandchildren, Momo Scharf, Daniel, Sydney and Adyson Seabaugh and Kate Kirk.

Also surviving are her parents, Cyrus and Harriet Porter of New Madrid; four brothers, Michael, Joe, Erwin and Edward Porter; and four sisters, Carolyn Allred, Patty Frye, Anita Hunter and Lynette Fowler.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, with parish prayers at 7 p.m., followed by the rosary.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson, with Father David Hulshof officiating.

Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, Immaculate Conception Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
