Mary Evelyn Kellett, 89, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at Saxony Village Retirement Community in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to the late Theodore "Ted" and Myrtle Edwards York. On Dec. 22, 1952, in Piggott, Arkansas, she married Donald Eugene Kellett, who preceded her in death April 6, 2006.
Mary was the owner and operator of Mary's Boutique for more than 30 years. She was an avid member of Fox Haven Country Club for many years and was a member of First Christian Church in Sikeston, Missouri.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandy Kellett-Gordon of Lynchburg, Tennessee, and Tonya Kellett of Pittsburg, Kansas; sister, Carolyn (Dugless) Estes of Cape Girardeau; granddaughter, Mychelle (Steven) Sloan of Sikeston; great-granddaughter, Danica Sloan of Sikeston; 12 nieces and nephews; and a very special couple she adopted as her own, Terry and Diane Ottinger of Sikeston.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Ted York Jr.
The family would like to thank Mary's personal care aide, Leta Swinney, for all of her love and care, and Lutheran Home Hospice for all the love and care it provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, or any charity of choice.
There are no services scheduled at this time.
A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
