SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mary Lou Johnson, 72, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Portageville, Mo., daughter of the late Louie Rice and Margaret Agatha Mumma Largent. She and Jimmy W. "Chunk" Johnson were married Dec. 20, 1953...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mary Lou Johnson, 72, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Portageville, Mo., daughter of the late Louie Rice and Margaret Agatha Mumma Largent. She and Jimmy W. "Chunk" Johnson were married Dec. 20, 1953.

She was employed at White Rexall Pharmacy, Medical Arts Pharmacy and Corning Labs in Sikeston many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. She was also a member of Blodgett Women's Club, and served as a Girl Scout leader.

One of her greatest enjoyments was spending time with her grandchildren.

Loving survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas W. (Cheryl) Johnson of New Hamburg, Mo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cyndi L. (Joe) Lankheit of Sikeston, Susan A. (Frank) Babcock of Lake Villa, Ill.; a brother and two sisters-in-law, James D. (Carol) Largent and Sharon Largent Green, all of Sikeston; six grandchildren and spouses, Allison Johnson of New Hamburg, Conner Babcock and Cord Babcock of Lake Villa, Maria (Kevin) Glenn of Charleston, Mo., Justin (Melissa) Lankheit of Brentwood, Mo., and Jake Lankheit of Charlotte, N.C.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles B. Largent and William M. Largent.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor of First United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Harold Norton, associate pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Blodgett Cemetery at Blodgett, Mo.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Largent, Ellis Largent, Charles "Chuck" Largent, Mark Chapman, Darren Chapman, Justin Lankheit, Doug Menz and David Harper.
