LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Mary Anna Jansen, 88, of Leopold passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 29, 1925, in Leopold, daughter of George J. and Bernadine Vandeven Hinkebein. She and Walter Joseph Jansen were united in marriage Oct. 8, 1946, and he passed away Jan. 22, 1997.
Mary taught a fourth-grade religion class for 25 years, was a member of the St. Ann's Sodality, St. John's Catholic Church, St. John's Ladies Quilting, KC 5898 Auxiliary, St. John's prayer shawl ministry, Legion of Mary, a 4-H leader, Cub Scout den mother and was 2014 friends of the KCs honoree. 
Survivors include sons Ambrose, Arnold and Anthony Jansen, all of Leopold, Alphonse Jansen of Advance, Mo., Andrew Jansen of De Soto, Mo.; daughters, Christina Diebold of Scott City, Celestine Chierek of Festus, Mo., Cecilia Deck Georger and Catherine Nenninger, both of Leopold; 33 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Abraham; a brother, Louis Hinkebein; and sisters, Maria Hinkebein and Lucile Seiler.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Mo., with parish prayers at 4 p.m. and Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold, with the Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Leopold.
Memorial contributions are requested for the Food for the Poor or charity of choice.
