Mary Jane Long died Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at her home, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born Oct. 2, 1957, to Billy and Evelyn Sewing Long.
She was a 1976 graduate of Jackson High School and attended Lutheran School of Nursing, Southeast Missouri State University and Webster University, earning a certified registered nurse and master's degree in nursing.
Mary Jane worked as an RN at Southeast Hospital for more than 30 years and was a medical coder for AskMueller Consulting at the time of her death.
Mary Jane was an active member of her sorority Beta Sigma Psi.
She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Long; sister, Winnie Long; brother, Larry Long; brother-in-law, John Hoemann; sister-in-law, Carrielee Long; multiple nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and her close friends, Don Dixon, Ben Hutchings and Thomas Hays.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Lechner; father, Bill Long; sister, Cheryl Hoemann; and two grandnieces.
A memorial will be planned for a later date.
An interment service for friends and family will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
