CHARLESTON -- Mary Blanche Holifield, 85, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, at Bertrand Nursing Facility.
She was born July 15, 1911, in Derby, Ind., daughter of Oscar and Ida Frances Stowe Alvey. She and Amos William Holifield were married in 1933. He died Jan. 25, 1968.
Holifield had lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.
Survivors include four sons, Leonard Holifield of Moreno Valley, Calif., Jimmy Holifield of Fayetteville, N.C., Andy Holifield of St. David, Ariz., Donald Holifield of Douglas, Ariz.; three daughters, Betty Fair of East Prairie, Sharon Payne of Bertrand, Mary Eftink of Marble Hill; two brothers, Paul Alvey of St. Louis, Ray Alvey of Sikeston; two sisters, Mildred Coots of Dogwood, Hazel Poulter of Frankclay; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and three brothers.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Henry's Church, with the Rev. Rich Lause officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery near Charleston.
