MARBLE HILL -- Mary Louise Helton, 84, of Marble Hill died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Oct. 7, 1913, at Lutesville, daughter of Edward Morris and Nora Edith Smith Caldwell. She and Delbert A. Helton were married Sept. 23, 1939, at Marble Hill. He died Dec. 21, 1969...

MARBLE HILL -- Mary Louise Helton, 84, of Marble Hill died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 7, 1913, at Lutesville, daughter of Edward Morris and Nora Edith Smith Caldwell. She and Delbert A. Helton were married Sept. 23, 1939, at Marble Hill. He died Dec. 21, 1969.

Helton was employed by Peabody Coal as a cook on a towboat more than 30 years. She was a member of West Side Church of God in Cape Girardeau, but attended Lutesville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a sister, Juanita Oliver of Cupertino, Calif.

She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Lutesville Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Nancy Gillard officiating.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
