Mary Hays Proffer, 93, of Jackson died Saturday, Jan. 6, 1996, at the St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born June 25, 1902, at Dixon Springs, Ill., the daughter of George and Millie Phelps Crawford.
She was married to James Hays Sept. 15, 1938. He died Jan. 2, 1967. She then married Ervin Proffer March 5, 1976, and he died Jan. 13, 1991.
She was a member of the Church of Christ of Jackson.
Survivors are a son, Dr. James H. Hays of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Rosemary Dougan of Jackson; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cracraft-Miller Chapel, with Paul Weber officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
