DEXTER -- Mary Ethel Collier, 88, of Dexter, and formerly of Scopus, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Sept. 11, 1903 in Noble, Ill., daughter of John Charles and Mary E. Taylor Mitchell. On July 26, 1922, she married Christopher C. Collier. He died Dec. 12, 1984...

DEXTER -- Mary Ethel Collier, 88, of Dexter, and formerly of Scopus, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 11, 1903 in Noble, Ill., daughter of John Charles and Mary E. Taylor Mitchell.

On July 26, 1922, she married Christopher C. Collier. He died Dec. 12, 1984.

Surviving are five sons, Edwin Collier of Kansas City, Ernest and Ronald Collier of Jackson, Richard Collier of Crystal City, and Gaylon Collier of Dexter; a daughter, Mary Tanner of Bernie; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Katheryn; two brothers; three sisters; and one grandson preceded her in death.

She was a housewife and of the Southern Baptist denomination.

She moved to Dexter in 1989 from Scopus.

Friends may call today after 5 p.m. at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Herbert Bruhn of Cape Girardeau officiating. Burial will be in the Cook Cemetery at Scopus.
