Mary Ellen Glass Dover, 82, of Scott City died at 12:07 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at her home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 7, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Martin Glass and Marie Glass Johnson. She was married to Collin Dover of Scott City for 27 years.
Mary Ellen worked for many years as an activity director for Chateau Girardeau, and proudly retired from Sam's Club in Cape Girardeau, where she loved greeting friends and customers daily.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Scott City, and in her early years enjoyed playing the piano and being an active member of the choir.
Survivors include a son, Marty Dover (Michelle Varney) of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Toni Cartwright (John Abernathy) of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Gawayne "Sonny" Glass of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Kenneth (Beverly) Johnson of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Makenzie (Jamel) Oliver and Kacie (Ryan) Livesay; four great-grandchildren, Jaelyn Marie Oliver, Joliana Mae Oliver, Camden Lane Livesay and Keller Ryan Livesay; many loving nieces and nephews; and also cherished many loving memories with Nikki, Natalie and Cody Le.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Harry "Jack" Johnson; and brothers, Bill Glass and Jack Johnson.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home, with Pastors Jeremy Sells and Ken Strong officiating. Inurnment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Scott City and/or Father's Arms Fellowship of Scott City.
