Mary Elizabeth Schlitt, 64, 1808 Scotts Lane, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Carlyle Edward and Stella Mae McDaniel Kendrick. She and Charles W. Schlitt were married May 22, 1954, in Cape Girardeau. He died Nov. 13, 1991.
Schlitt was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and its Council of Catholic Women, was a member and floral designer for St. Francis Auxiliary, and regularly visited the sick. She was an artist and much of her work is displayed at the medical center.
Survivors include five sons, William Schlitt of Charleston, S.C., David Schlitt of Colorado Springs, Colo., James and Joseph Schlitt of Cape Girardeau, Thomas Schlitt of Evansville, Ind.; three daughters, Shelia Wallace of Fayette, Deborah Foeste and Angela Schlitt of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Jerry Kendrick of Cape Girardeau, Robert Kendrick of Pinckneyville, Ill., and 17 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
A memorial mass will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Revs. Mike McDevitt, Glenn Eftink, Harry Schlitt and Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating.
