Mary R. Cherry, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 1, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born March 31, 1900, in Obion County, Tenn., daughter of James I. and Emma Headden Collins. She and Rufus Cherry were married Dec. 23, 1918, in Mason Hall, Tenn. He died March 3, 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Leon Cherry of Cape Girardeau, Ronnie Cherry of Denver, Colo.; four daughters, Cherry Hopkins and Bonnie Hesselrode of Cape Girardeau, Juanita McArthur of Sikeston, Carmie White of Chicago; a brother, George "Buster" Collins of Mason Hall; two sisters, Imogene Taylor of Kenton, Tenn., Vanelle Shelton of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers, and two sisters.
Friends may call Thursday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from noon to service time.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Philip Curran officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery at Morley.
