CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Mary Frances Burnett, 83, of Chaffee died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
She was born Sept. 4, 1920, in Chaffee, daughter of Luther Jefferson and Bertha Frances Maddox King Sr. She and Jack T. Burnett were married Oct. 5, 1947.
Mary Frances was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chaffee. She was a retired secretary at Chaffee Grade School, taught music and piano in schools and also gave private lessons in her home for hundreds of students, and directed church choirs and community choirs. She also directed the Golden Jubilee celebration in Chaffee in 1955.
Mary Frances was a member of Chaffee PEO, Chaffee Historical Society, Chaffee Alumni, wrote and directed the Alumni program, and was a member of Business and Professional Women's Organization.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Cindy Burnett of Chaffee; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Dr. David Pfefferkorn of Sikeston; six grandchildren, Molly Rebecca (Doyle) Noe of Sikeston, Jessie Marie (Tim) Vollink of Cape Girardeau, Corrie Jo Pfefferkorn of Sikeston, Abby Jane Pfefferkorn of Sikeston, Samuel King Burnett of Chaffee, and Maggie Leigh Pfefferkorn of Sikeston; five great-grandchildren, Brylie Rebecca, Kylie Deigh, and Ellie Elizabeth Noe of Sikeston, Jackson David Bell of Sikeston, Conner Michael Voll-ink of Cape Girardeau; and a sister-in-law, Vonda King of Dallas, Texas.
A sister, Leona Rebecca King, and a brother, L. Jeff King Jr., preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. Saturday.
A musical prelude will begin at 1:40 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Chaffee. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Combs officiating, assisted by the Rev. Marty Blakey. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sam Burnett, Thomas Grimsley, Wayne Noe, David Summers, Donnie Reischman and Mike Harris.
