Mary Drucille Ayers, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Advance, Missouri, to Melvin and Gertrude Williams Pixley. Mary and Glenn Ayers were married Nov. 7, 1946, in Sikeston, Missouri. Mary Drucille Ayers, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Advance, Missouri, to Melvin and Gertrude Williams Pixley. Mary and Glenn Ayers were married Nov. 7, 1946, in Sikeston, Missouri. He preceded her in death July 15, 2000.

Mary was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, and while living in Dexter, Missouri, was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality and a founder of Church Women United. She loved her family and was a great bread maker.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Doug) Bailiff of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Philip (Loretta) Ayers of Chesterfield, Missouri, Dennis (Jeannie) Ayers of O'Fallon, Missouri, David (Susan) Ayers of Overland Park, Kansas, and Neal (Denise) Ayers of Dexter; a sister, Betty Belle Brannock of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Ayers; a daughter, Helen Sue Ayers Taylor; a son, Stephen Ayers; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be in Chalk Bluff Cemetery at Dexter.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul or Sacred Heart Catholic churches.
