Mary Ann Parker, 79, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021, after an extended illness.
Mary Ann was born March 7, 1943, in Oran, Missouri, to Zephyl and Hazel Smith Menz. She married the late Billy Ray Parker on May 17, 1958.
She was the proud mother of four children. Mary Ann was not only devoted to her own children, but to the children of her church, Red Star Baptist of Cape Girardeau, as well as to her extended family members. She was a 25-plus-year Sunday school teacher. She also participated in many other church programs that helped children. Mary Ann Parker also enjoyed her career working with the residents at Chateau Girardeau for over 20 years.
Mary Ann Parker is survived by a daughter, Beverly (the late Mike) Brooks of St. Louis; two sons, Bradley (Linda) Parker of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Bryan Parker of Cape Girardeau; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; several siblings; husband, Billy Ray Parker; and son, Brent Allen Parker, and his wife, Cheryl Parker, of Jackson/Imperial, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at noon Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.
Interment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home.
