Mary and Matthew Joseph were taken from us too soon on May 30, 2013.

Mary was born on April 23, 1956, to Betty Griffith and the late Paul Griffith. She was married to George Joseph on July 10, 1993. Matthew Joseph was born on July 19, 1994.

They leave behind George Joseph, husband and father; Mary's mother and Matthew's grandmother, Betty Griffith; Mary's siblings Mike (Yvonne), Bob (Mary), and Steve (Charlotte) Griffith and Becky (David) Snell; Matthew's uncles, Gerard (Ann), Gavin and Godfrey Joseph. They both leave behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary had a long career in the medical field, including working for the family business, Griffith Orthotics, and several years as a surgical technician at St. Francis Medical Center. Her care and compassion for others shined through in everything she did, from caring for her great nephews to volunteering for Southeast Hospice.

They were both very involved in the Catholic Church and were members of the Catholic Campus Ministry. Mary also belonged to the Oblates of St. Francis.

Matthew was a very studious young man. He began taking college classes at Southeast Missouri State University when he was only 15, and he had just completed a year at Fontbonne University in St. Louis.

They both will be deeply missed by the many family members, friends and acquaintances their lives have touched.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Old St. Vincent's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, with the Rev. Patrick Nwokoye officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Southeast Hospice.

Online condolences may be made at fordandsonsfuneralhome.com.
