Mary Alice Kinder, 2710 Jewel St., died Dec. 16, 1992, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau at age 52.
She was born March 21, 1940, in Bell City, the daughter of Billy Chapman and Gladys LaRue Scism Chapman. They survive of Chaffee.
She married Gerald C. Kinder June 13, 1959. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gerald Wayne Kinder of El Paso, Texas, and Mark Allen Kinder of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Kenneth Chapman of Gordonville, Norman Chapman of Cape Girardeau and Larry Chapman of Maryland Heights, Mo.; and two sisters, Margaret Heuring of New Hamburg and Sharon Bowen of Gordonville;
She was preceded in death by one brother.
She earned her bachelor of science degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1962, and her masters degree in 1972. She was a teacher at the Nell Holcomb R-4 School from 1962-92.
She was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association. She was a charter member of the Community Teachers Association at Nell Holcomb, and helped in writing the constitution and bylaws.
She is a former CTA president and held various other offices in the organization.
She also was active with the Department of Reading Teachers at Southeast Missouri State University.
She was a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church, and for several years was the secretary of the administrative board, and a member of the church's board of trustees.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. David Conley will officiate.
Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Chapel.
