ADVANCE, Mo. — Mary Karen Abbott, 66, of Advance passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Advance Nursing Center. ADVANCE, Mo. — Mary Karen Abbott, 66, of Advance passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at Advance Nursing Center.

She was born Sept. 21, 1950, at Marble Hill, Missouri, the daughter of Paul and Myrtle Eaker Leadbetter.

Karen was a member of Advance First Church. She had worked for Manpower at Procter & Gamble.

Karen and James Abbott were united in marriage April 13, 1974, at Zalma, Missouri, and he preceded her in death Oct. 23, 2004.

Survivors include two daughter, Jennifer (David) Laird of Advance and Laura (Trafton) Clark of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, Kenneth Leadbetter of Festus, Missouri, Arvil Leadbetter of Marble Hill and Larry Leadbetter and Wayne Leadbetter, both of Grassy, Missouri; three sisters, Glenda Woodard of Grassy, Neda Chambliss of Santileo, Texas, and Melba Leadbetter of Marble Hill; and three grandchildren, Hallee, Hayden and Harlie Laird.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Cletus Leadbetter; and two sisters, Wanda and Dorothy.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Brad Moore officiating. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
