Marvin H. Sealander, 75, of Rapid River, Mich., died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 10, 1925, in Escanaba, Mich., son of Christ and Nettie Erickson Sealander. He and S. LaVerne Mathison were married in 1952 in Sacramento, Calif.
A veteran of World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943-45, and again from 1946 until retiring in 1974 as a sergeant major.
Sealander lived in Grand Rapids, Mich., 10 years and taught Junior ROTC. He retired in 1985 and did volunteer work. He had lived in the Rapid River area since 1991.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Matt Sealander of Rapid River, Jeff Sealander of Port Vue, Pa.; two daughters, Debbie Boyd of Terre Haute, Ind., Tina Blyzes of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Edward Sealander of Havertown, Pa., George Sealander of Escanaba; a sister, Betty Gerhard of Iron Mountain, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister.
Friends may call at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, Mich., after 11 a.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jonathan Schmidt officiating. Entombment will be in Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
