Marvin Tesean Scott, 16, of Cape Girardeau was granted his angel wings Tuesday, July 28, 2015, in North Carolina. He was born June 9, 1999, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Marvin Joe Scott Jr. and Valerie R. Davis Scott.
To many, Tesean's life will seem too short, but those who knew him and were touched by him understand that the quality of one's life far exceeds the quantity of time one lives. Tesean lived life more abundantly than many of those who far outnumbered him in age.
With Tesean's passing, we are reminded that his life is one to be celebrated and emulated. Although we will miss him every day -- especially his winning smile -- he will forever remain in our hearts.
Tesean was an active member of Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, where he was baptized and an active member of the youth ministry.
Tesean is survived by his parents, Marvin and Valerie Scott of Cape Girardeau; three siblings, Valencia, Destiny and Wesley; paternal grandparents, Callie Frierson and Marvin (Sharon) Scott; maternal grandparents, Maxine Davis and Joseph (Martha) Garrett; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Lynwood Baptist Church, followed by a funeral at noon with Elder David Offord officiating.
Interment will be in the Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements.
