THEBES, Ill. -- Funeral for Marvin Bennett of Thebes will be held at 2 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The Rev. Carl Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.

Bennett, 62, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Thebes, son of Thomas and Bessie Thompson Bennett.

Bennett was a telecommunicator with Cairo Police Department, and was a police officer with the department many years.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; two daughters, Toni Sims and Angela Jones of Olive Branch; a son, Jerry Bennett of Cairo; two brothers, Thomas Bennett of Kentucky, Edward Bennett of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Louise Hopper of Paducah, Ky.; and four grandchildren.
