Martin E. Mantz, 80, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, June 23, 1991, at Deal Nursing Home in Jackson.
He was born Sept. 8, 1910, at Jackson, son of William and Christine Puchbauer Mantz. He and the former Lucille Parker were married in 1948 in Cape Girardeau. She died in 1958.
As a young man he farmed west of Fruitland and had been a custodian and Sunday School superintendent at St. John's United Church of Christ. After serving with the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked in the maintenance department at International Shoe Co. more than 38 years. He was a member of St. John's Church and VFW Post 3838 here.
Survivors include a sister, Leona Mantz of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Jesse Perry will officiate, with burial in Lorimier Cemetery. Military rites will be by VFW Post 3838.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
