SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Martha Joan Johnson Wright, 80, formerly of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Hospice of Savannah. She was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Neelys Landing, daughter of Arvy and Violet Gohn Johnson. Martha worked at International Shoe Co. in Jackson for 20 years. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook big family meals...

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Martha Joan Johnson Wright, 80, formerly of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Hospice of Savannah.

She was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Neelys Landing, daughter of Arvy and Violet Gohn Johnson.

Martha worked at International Shoe Co. in Jackson for 20 years. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook big family meals.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Eula Johnson; and a brother, Jerry Johnson.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Beth McNeely of Arnold, Missouri; two sons, Bruce (Patti) Windeknecht of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Barry (Patty) Windeknecht of Richmond Hill, Georgia; five grandchildren, Ryan and Cody Windeknecht of Knoxville, Tracy Windeknecht of Indianapolis, Joseph Windeknecht of Madison, Wisconsin, and Sarah Windeknecht of Richmond Hill.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at White Bluff Presbyterian Church in Savannah.

The family requests memorials be made to a hospice facility of your choice.

Arrangements were by Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, in Savannah.
