Martha Showmaker

MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Martha E. Showmaker, 82, of Mound City died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Greene County, Ark., daughter of Harry and Waldeen Bateman McGraw. She married Ray Showmaker, who preceded her in death.

Showmaker was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Pulaski, Ill.

Survivors include three sons, Alvin Showmaker of Pulaski, Gary Showmaker of Bonne Terre, Mo., Darrell Showmaker of Cairo, Ill.; two daughters, Elizabeth Showmaker of Cairo, Rhonda Showmaker of Mound City; a sister, Darlene Styres of Benton, Ky.; four granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The funeral will be at noon Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Joe McCullough and Terry Kern officiating. Burial will be in Mound City National Cemetery.
