BERTRAND -- Martha Groves, 71, of Bertrand died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Cairo, Ill., daughter of the Everett and Rose Hall McClain. She had lived in Mississippi County most of her life.
On Jan. 12, 1948, she married W.C. "Dub" Groves, who survives.
She had been employed as an LPN with the Missouri Delta Medical Center, the Sikeston Diagnostic Clinic and the Bertrand Retirement Home, and had served as manager of a group home in Sikeston from 1977 until her retirement in 1990.
She was a member of the Temple of Faith General Baptist Church in Sikeston.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra Lawton of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Earl McClain of St. Charles; one sister, Jewell Kyle of Dexter; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Loy Miller of Temple of Faith General Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
