CAIRO, Ill. -- Graveside service for Martha Reed Gillespie of Cairo will be held at 1 p.m. today at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Jerome Fortenberry will officiate.

Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.

Gillespie, 84, died Monday, Oct. 7, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 13, 1912, in Cairo, daughter of Reed and Lula Young Green. She married Dr. Emmett J. Gillespie, who preceded her in death in 1982.

Gillespie served on the Cairo Public Library Board of Trustees many years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its Altar Guild, Cairo Women's Club, and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Gillespie of San Diego, Calif.; a son, Dr. Duff Gillespie of Kensington, Md.; and two grandchildren.
