CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Martha Mary Klipfel Eftink passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at her home.
She was born on July 16, 1924, in Benton, Missouri, to Lawrence and Clara LeGrand Klipfel. She married Albert H. Eftink on Aug. 12, 1947, in Benton. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 2019.
Martha was the most selfless, caring, loving person and her greatest joy was her family -- her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. She especially loved the little ones. She was also an amazing artist, creating beautiful wedding and other specialty cake designs as well as expertly painting ceramic pieces as her hobbies. She loved gardening, sewing, crocheting and quilting. She was an active member of the Daughters of St Ambrose.
She is survived by four sons, Jim (Charlotte) of Bloomsdale, Missouri, Jerome of Chaffee, David (Kathy) of Oran, Missouri, Greg (Shirley) of Scott City; five daughters, Patsy (Dan) Brase of Cape Girardeau, Martha (Tom) Obermann of Chaffee, Sarah (Rick) Ross of St. Louis, Clara (Donald) Essner of Chaffee and Betty Eftink of Jackson; a brother, Lawrence (Mary) Klipfel Jr. "Junior" of Benton; a sister-in-law Matilda Eftink of Portageville, Missouri; 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sharlett Eftink, a son-in-law, Jim Diebold and two grandchildren Matthew Eftink and Laura Eftink. She was also preceded in death by her parents and stepmother Josephine Klipfel; four brothers, Tony, Eddie, Vester and Joe Klipfel and three sisters, Coletta McKinstry, Dorothy Mae Tucker and Rita Jansen.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m..
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee with the Rev. Joseph Kelly as celebrant. Burial will be at St Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Chaffee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, St Jude Children's Research Hospital or Saint Francis Hospice.
