CHARLESTON - Martha Burke Jackson, 83, of Charleston, died Friday, Aug. 16, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 23, 1908, in Blodgett, daughter of Emmett Taylor and Lena Burks Burke. She married Marshall Jackson May 24, 1931. He died June 1, 1988.
She lived in Mississippi County most of her life. Jackson was a retired school teacher, and member of Charleston United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert Jackson of Charleston; two brothers, the Rev. Robert Burke and John Burke of Charleston; five sisters: Loretta Giltz, Jean Logan, Jessie Brown and Sally Winchester, all of Charleston, Patricia Brock of Columbia; two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church here. The Rev. Richard Combs will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
