Marta Ann Goodman, 59, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at her home in Jackson.
She was born June 15, 1952, in Oakland, Calif., to Mark A. and Elizabeth Pavlishin Dailey. She and Loren W. "Pete" Goodman were married July 27, 1973, in Greenville, N.C.
The Goodman family formerly resided in Cookeville, Tenn., where Marta was a teacher's aide working with special-needs children in the public school and was a former Brownie leader.
In 2002, the family moved to Jackson and Marta developed many friendships through her membership at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and as queen mother of the River Roses Red Hat Society in Cape Girardeau.
Marta's family remembers her devotion to caring for them and their home, and her enjoyment of cooking, shopping, dancing and gardening.
Loving survivors include her husband of 38 years, Pete of Jackson; six children, Marie (Jason) Graves and children Victoria, Garrett, and Claudia of Chattanooga, Tenn., Andrew (Bethany) Goodman and children Mae and Betsy of Nashville, Tenn., Bradley Goodman and fiancee Rachael Dougherty of Smyrna, Tenn., Ryan Goodman of Nashville, Michael and Kevin Goodman of Jackson; her parents, Mark and Elizabeth Dailey of Southport, N.C.; a brother, John Dailey of Southport; a sister, Marie Dailey and husband Pat Dane of Southport; two brothers-in-law, Alan (Marti) Goodman, Dave (Bette) Goodman; two sisters-in-law, Paula Goodman and husband Mike Rychener, and Cathy (Barry) Blackburn.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Meagan Goodman; an infant grandson, Zachary Graves; and her father and mother-in-law, Paul and Claudia Goodman.
Friends may call from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Parish prayers will be said at 5:30, immediately followed by the rosary.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception School.
