Funeral service for Marlon E. Bartlett of Huntington, W.Va., was held March 8 at Ferrell Mortuary Chapel there. The Rev. Andrew Magnusson officiated, with burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville, W.Va.
Bartlett, 74, died Friday, March 4, 1994, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Point Pleasant, W.Va.
He was born July 29, 1919, in Haberhill, Mass., son of Everett M. and Marion Bearce Bartlett. The family moved to Cape Girardeau in 1934. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
Bartlett was a baseball pitcher in high school, pitched for many area teams, and tried out with St. Louis Browns and Cardinals.
He was a retired driver with TTA, Huntington, and previously worked for Trailways. He was a member of Baptist Temple Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former June Smith; two daughters, Dana Ellis of Huntington, Lana Trene of Mercer, Ore.; a son, Herbert Bartlett of Huntington; a brother, Robert E. "Bob" Bartlett of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
