Mark Andrew Claunch, 61, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 11, 1961, in Hurst, Illinois, to Virgil Eugene and Anita Hester Claunch.
Mark proudly served in the U.S. Navy. After the military, he was employed as a maintenance technician through Dana Corp. After Dana, he sought the ministry and was called to pastor the Chapel by the Lake and was later called to Lake Girardeau Assembly Of God. After retiring from the ministry, he sought employment with the City of Cape Girardeau as a maintenance worker and had worked for the city five years.
Mark enjoyed practicing and playing guitar. He enjoyed hunting, but Mark mainly enjoyed being with family and friends.
Mark and Barbara Culbertson were married Sept. 16, 1989.
Survivors include his mother, Anita Claunch of Olive Branch, Illinois; wife, Barbara Claunch of Jackson; sons, Robby (Mindy) Jenkins of Cape Girardeau and Aaron Jenkins of Columbia, Missouri; daughters, Michelle (John) Rutherford of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Tammy (Derek) DeSpain of Millersville; and brother, Danny (Lorena) Claunch of California. He also raised four granddaughters as his own: Alexa, Charity, Dakota and Trinity Jenkins. He is also leaving behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
All who love Mark will take great comfort in knowing he is in a better place, and we have not said goodbye to him, but "See you later!"
A memorial service will be begin at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at 4-H Exhibit Hall at Arena Park. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
