Marjorie Inez Smith, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at her home.
She was born April 9, 1927, in Jackson, to the late Albert and Zella Sheppard Wade. She was married to Vernal L. Smith, who preceded her in death.
Marjorie was a member of St. John's AME Church in Jackson until its closing. She later joined Lighthouse Breakthrough International Ministries in Cape Girardeau.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan A. Ayers of Cape Girardeau; a son and daughter-in-law, Vernal E. and Ivory Smith of California; a grandson whom she raised, Bruce E. Smith of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Billy (Joyce) Wade of Cape Girardeau; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Perry Wade, and a daughter, Helen L. Ayers.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at Greater Dimension Ministries in Cape Girardeau, with Adrian Taylor Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
