Marjorie Smiley Kesterson, 95, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Fornfelt to Jesse Alan and Amanda Meinz Odom. She and Archie Thomas Smiley were married April 1, 1945, at Scott City. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1974. She later married Harold Kesterson on Sept. 17, 1982, at Cape Girardeau. He survives.
Marjorie was a graduate of Illmo-Fornfelt High School.
She was machine operator at Davis Electric for 27 years.
She was a charter member of Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Kesterson of Cape Girardeau; son, Butch (Karen) Smiley of Jackson; daughters, Beverly (Dale) Ratliff, Sheila Wheeler and Teresa (Michael) Ratliff, all of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Amanda (Christopher) Poston, Melissa (Joel) Lewis, Carissa (Dillon) Halbert, Andrew (Leslie) Ratliff, Caylee Wheeler and Clayton (Jordan) Ratliff; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Tessa, Rhett and Ian Poston, McKenna Ratliff, Eli Lewis and Jameson and Oliver Halbert; and nephews, John (Sena) Odom of Scott City and Doug (Karri) Kesterson of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Smiley; parents; and three brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Pringle officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Adult and Teen Challenge Mid-America or American Heart Association.
