MOUNDS, Ill. — Marjorie L. Rives, 87, of Mounds died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo, Ill.
She was born June 16, 1921, at Mounds, daughter of Roy and Ethel Helman Palmer. She and James W. "Bill" Rives were married. He died Sept. 29, 1965.
She was a former LPN at Meridian Manor in Mounds, Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau and Lake County Memorial Hospital in Russellville, Ky.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mounds, member of the WMU and taught the Beginners Sunday school class for many years, member of Phi Sigma Sorority, member of Senior Citizen Smiles One Center of Mounds.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Droge of Mounds, Karen Lasley of Paducah, Ky.; two sisters, Muriel J. "Mermie" Reeves of Pulaski, Ill., Evva Tuffley of San Marcos, Calif.; a brother, Dr. Jim Palmer of Charleston, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
