Marjorie M. Meystedt, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at The Lutheran Home.
She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Clarkton, Mo., to William Carroll and Birdie Belle Skaggs Henson. She and Fred A. Meystedt were married Aug. 23, 1932, in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. He died Nov. 26, 1970.
Mrs. Meystedt was a graduate of Central High School. She was a housekeeper for the Sisters of Loretto in the 1950s and 1960s. She was also a housekeeper for the School Sisters of Notre Dame at St. Mary's Convent.
She was an avid book reader and had a love for dancing. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
Survivors include a son, Fred C. Meystedt (Joanne) of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Andrea Kester (Kevin), Jeffrey Meystedt (Amanda), David Meystedt (Janet), James Meystedt (Barbara); 16 great-grandchildren, Sara, Nathan, Jacqueline, Isabella, Luke (Stephanie), Aaron, Jeremy, Jason (Rachel), Kyle, Kelsie and Brody Meystedt, Emily Huey (Aaron), Alicia and Dusty Smith, Allison Miles, and Landon Stanberry; three great-great-grandchildren, Lucas and Mallory Meystedt and Berklee Miles Robison; special nieces and nephew, Yvonne Miller, Patsy Gross, Charlene Vandeven (Jerry), Lawanna Eifert and Charlie Joe Bertrand (Lisa); and special family friends, the Ed Seabaugh family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Paul Michael Meystedt; a brother; and three sisters.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be given to Birthright or St. Mary's Cathedral Building on Faith Fund.
