Marjorie Alberta Hildebrand, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at Southeast Hospital. She was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Cape Girardeau to Robert E. and Margaret Elizabeth Fleming Blaylock. She and Richard Hildebrand were married Jan. 10, 1946, at Blytheville, Arkansas. Marjorie Alberta Hildebrand, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Cape Girardeau to Robert E. and Margaret Elizabeth Fleming Blaylock. She and Richard Hildebrand were married Jan. 10, 1946, at Blytheville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 2004.

Marjorie was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She taught high school home economics at area schools and Head Start in Tamms, Illinois.

She liked to travel with her husband and loved her cats.

Marjorie was a lifelong and active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. She also volunteered at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center.

Survivors include her two daughters, Tina (Curtis) Peery of Wellsville, Missouri, and Laurel (Steve) Rhodes of Jackson; a son, Richard B. (Shara) Hildebrand of Chandler, Arizona; four grandchildren, Ryan (Ashley) Peery, Robin (Martin) Peery, Eric (Kelly) Rhodes and Sarah (Bryan) Sander; three great-grandchildren, Lillian Rhodes, Sydney Sander and Addilyn Sander; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Larry Blaylock, Everett Blaylock and Chester Blaylock; and three sisters, Oney Brown, O'Letta Cole and Tressie Randol.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Eric Schmidt officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Cape Girardeau Senior Center, 921 Clark Ave., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701; Grace United Methodist Church, 521 Caruthers Ave., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701 or Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, 359 Cree Lane, Jackson, MO 63755.
