JACKSON -- Funeral for Marjorie M. Deneke of Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Deneke, 77, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 28, 1921, at Jackson, daughter of Martin and Mary Steimel Sievers. She and Ollen H. Deneke were married Aug. 11, 1944. He died March 22, 1977.
Deneke began working at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill in 1956, and retired from Lee-Rowan in 1989. She was a life member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, and member of its Lydia Kies Circle and quilters group.
Survivors include a son, Michael Deneke of Dixon, Ill.; a daughter, Jane Gulley of Scott City; three sisters, Geraldine Byron of St. Louis, Margaret King and Inez Knott of Jackson; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.
