BELL CITY, Mo. -- Marjorie Louise Smith DeLay departed this life for her heavenly home Wednesday, May 26, 2004.

Marjorie was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Jackson, daughter of John W. and Hattie A. Smith.

She is survived by her beloved spouse and caretaker, James W. DeLay of Bell City, Mo.; a son, Darrell J. DeLay of Advance, Mo.; three daughters, Avis Holloway and husband Wally of Springfield, Mo., Peggy Beck and husband Joe of Okeechobee, Fla., and Diane Frank and husband Chaunce of Ozark, Mo. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

She came from a family of 10 children and three siblings survive: a sister, June Cato of Overland, Mo.; two brothers, Kenneth Smith of Independence, Ky., and Vernon Smith of Marble Hill, Mo. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends who loved her for her wit and fun-loving ways.

She loved everyone unconditionally and was an example for all. One of her favorite things was spending time with her grandchildren, and they loved her dearly.

Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, George A. Smith, John Nelson Smith, William Guy Smith, Paul D. Smith, and two sisters, Ruby Tisdale and Elsie Seabaugh.

Visitation for friends will be Sunday, May 30, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be Monday, May 31, at 11 a.m. at Morgan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bell City Assembly of God Building Fund.
